Starry Nights Arts Festival, Tonopah Nevada, August 26, 2017
Set up and ready to go... battery packs, batteries, conductive dough, insulating dough, constellation cards, LED's, and instructions.
Add creatives from the community. Red and blue dough keeps positive and negative separate. Once you put the batteries in the pack and test, you are ready to design.
Making a constellation was just a suggestion. My favorite was the alien and spaceship. This little genius went beyond the basic concept and realized that she could light up one or the other but not both with one battery pack.
When it got dark the constellation concept worked pretty well. The dough dries out eventually and doesn't conduct. In the Nevada desert air that was just a few hours. The idea was to recreate our own night sky on the ground.

Public Zine Workshop 07/15/17
1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Zine making is for everyone! This small format, handmade magaZINE can be about your love of squirrels, how to repair your VW bug, your alt-fashion sense, or whatever tickles your fancy. The public Zine Workshop is for beginners to experienced zine makers. We will give an overview of the process and have paper and basic supplies, but feel free to bring imagery, drawings, your favorite art supplies, and great ideas.
I attended this workshop in 2016 and learned that many of my “art books” fit into the zine making category. Besides Basic Bike Checks,
which I sold at Zinefest2016. I’ll have some new work. Googly Eyes is a collection of exercises I’ve used in the past 15 years of my Vision Quest. Energy Book, has a heat sensitive front and back where you can play with your energy like an etch-a-sketch.
